Greetings HWC Community!

There were so many exciting things happening this week, that I couldn’t wait until Friday to send this out.

Don’t forget ADW’s were due last week. Those who forgot to submit online will get a paper copy from Courtney O’Brien, Registrar, this week. Please fill it out right away and return to the Registrar’s office. Midterm grades can be uploaded now through March 19th.

Gabe Razo Director of the Career Center  would like to remind faculty about the Chicago Cares workshops to help our students prepare for the Career Fair. The deadline to sign up for the workshops is Friday, March 21.

Professor Zalmay Gulzad has arranged to have Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky come to speak to our community on Monday, March 24 at 9:30-10:50 am. In Room 1115. Her topic is immigration reform.

Professor Jennifer Asimow was selected to be University of Illinois alumni honoree for 2014!  She will be honored at The College of Education Alumni Recognition Gala on May 2, 2014 which was created to recognize outstanding alumni in the field. Professor Michael Heathfield and his writing partner, Dr. Dana Fusco of CUNY, have a book being published by Routledge/Taylor Francis Group. Several HWC faculty and staff members members: Stephanie Burke, Jess Bader, Jane Regan, Rose Divita, Connie Wolf, Galina Shevchenko along with several adjuncts including Elena Rakochy will have work featured in Renaissance revisited. Read more here

HWC Faculty and Staff Ashley Andrews, John Bragelman, Maria Ortiz, Rosie Banks, and Sarah Kakamanu attended the National Association of Developmental Education conference in Dallas, Texas from March 5-8, 2014.  Representatives from Truman, Wright, Olive-Harvey, and Daley also attended the conference.  We are currently compiling our notes from the workshops we attended to exchange others across CCC.  See pictures here  https://hwcollege.wordpress.com/faculty/faculty-research-presentations-and-publications/
