Dear HWC Community,

I wanted to send a quick update to remind you of upcoming events this week!

On Monday, March 24 – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky will be speaking on immigration reform at 9:30-10:50 in room 1115. Please come and invite your students. We hope to have a large audience there.
Loop Players launch “After” with preview performances for our community on Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 pm. See link below for more details and other performance dates.

May 1 – 1:00  Student Arts Exhibition and Awards Reception

May 3 – Commencement

Dean Armen Sarrafian’s former HWC student, Eric Cortez, took classes in the department of art and architecture for several years where he focused on figure drawing and printmaking. He has taken his skill and love of art and has gone on to pursue a bachelor of arts and plans to continue to graduate school to pursue a Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization. Professor Michal Eskayo and Professor Gabriela Cambiasso  presented at the Illinois TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Conference last week.  The presentation was called Play While You Learn: Apps for the ELL Classroom. http://www.tesol.org/attend-and-learn/international-convention/convention2014

Several Faculty members from Harold Washington College Professor Farah Movahedzadeh, Professor Uletta Jackson, Professor Barbara Berchiolli and Professor Todd Heldt attended the SCI-Midwest regional SENCER symposium in Roosevelt University, Schaumburg on March 8, 2014. Professor Heldt presented a talk on: Library Involvement in a Global Warming Learning Community.
