Matt Shevitz from mattshevitz.comMatt Shevitz performed last Sunday for the Chitown Jazz Festival, an event held over the span of a few days at several clubs around the city. He performed with the Ian Torres Big Band, which is compromised of some of the top jazz musicians in the city.   Matt says, “It was an honor to play with them!”.

Also, adjunct Humanities and Fine Arts instructor Jennifer Wilson is traveling to Turkey for two weeks to study the Sufi sect of Islam. The Sufi’s are unusual in the religion of Islam because they are known for their mystic poetry (Rumi) and their specific dance style (whirling dervishes) that exist to aid their physical transcendence and spiritual immersion into the cosmos. Jennifer is very excited to have this opportunity and can’t wait to return to share her new insight with her HWC students!
